Donor Profile - Bob Hadley
by Ashley High Bob Hadley is a retired lawyer who gives over 50% of his gross income. He and his wife do not have a set amount of money they try to give, but they simple give as they feel led. There were even a few years in the late 1990’s where they gave away more than 100% of their gross income. Bob said his attorney’s intellect made it was hard to give away more than could be deducted on his tax return, but his heart eventually convinced his head.
Bob writes, “We believe that Jesus meant it when he said ‘Even as if you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto me.’ We want to do all that we can to eliminate the economic injustice so rampant in our world, both by giving our time (a greater gift, we think, than material possessions) and our money.” This joyful giving has been greatly influenced by Bob’s position as a board member and volunteer staff member at Ministry of Money.
Bob’s children know that their parents give substantially, but rather than being afraid for their reduced inheritance, they are proud of their parents. Now that Bob has retired, he and his wife may not be able to continue to give at 50%, but giving will continue to be a significant part of their life.
