Grant Writing Workshops- Kansas
by Jessica High Grant writing workshops are a very helpful tool to nonprofits seeking to improve their skills in applying for grants. Often though, the cost of such workshops can be daunting. However, now in Kansas, through July and August, the Kreative Images Foundation (K.I.) is offering workshops for free, aside from a minimal $5 charge for materials. Three workshops will be offered on grant writing, nonprofit development, and nonprofit compliance. Sherita Herring, the president and founder of K.I., will be leading these workshops. She brings a wonderful balance of passion and long-time expertise to the table, a combination that should prove to be very helpful to those who attend. "Sherita’s ultimate passion is helping others," says her biography on K.I.'s website, "As a community/economic development strategiest K.I. focuses on strengthening individuals, small businesses, and communities, by providing quality, professional, and unique business services across the U.S. [...] Her unique speaking style has entitled her to speak in diverse settings, while effectively communicating to all — from being in the presence of the who’s who crowd, i.e., former California Governor Gray Davis, Mayor Villaraigosa, Rev. Jessie Jackson, Tavis Smiley, Les Brown, Attorney Tom Mesereau, and various others, — to addressing individuals on the streets of skid row; engaging and empowering the less fortunate." The three workshops will be offered in succession and it is highly recommended to take all three. The first workshop on grantwriting will answer questions and provide tips on researching grants, what funders are looking for, collaborating, myths about grant writing and more. The next workshop on nonprofit development will focus on building your nonprofit, working with the IRS forms. The third workshop on nonprofit compliance will also be very helpful with the IRS making big changes in how they monitor charities. These workshops will be offered all over the KC area. Advance registration is required to ensure space availability. There will be a $5/person materials fee for each workshop.
